Like many people, I am interested in giving something back to the world through public service. After tossing around service-related ideas in my head for a few years, I was prompted to action by the December 2004 earthquake and tsunami in Asia. With the help of friends, I put together a fund-raising dinner in February 2005 to benefit the relief effort. More than forty people attended that event, which raised over $4,800 for CARE’s Asia Quake Rehabilitation Fund. Last year, the seventh annual Dinner to Benefit CARE brought in $4,338, raising our seven-year total to 30,309 .
This year, I am very excited to have two co-hosts for the Dinner to Benefit CARE. Long-time CARE supporters Stephanie Jolluck and Mitchell Wirth are working with me to make this year's event the best yet.
From the start, I hoped that these events would be just the first of many over the years, so I have created a name, Windsor Service, that we can associate with all of our events. The goal is to involve you and many other people in an increasingly potent effort to serve the public. If you would like to host an event benefitting a cause you believe in, drop me a line.
We hope that you will take moment and register to receive updates on upcoming Windsor Service events. I look forward to bigger and better things through a lasting relationship with you all.
Thanks,
Walter Overby
P.S. The name “Windsor Service” comes from Windsor Drive, a street in the neighborhood where I grew up in Calhoun, GA.
