About CARE
CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. CARE places special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE’s community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of disease, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.
Special Guest: Liz McLaughlin
Liz McLaughlin became involved with CARE through her pioneering work on economic development and peace building initiatives in the Balkans and Romania. Soon after, she was appointed Assistant Country Director and then Interim Country Director for CARE in Sudan, then one of CARE’s largest and most complex country offices. During her time in Sudan, she helped direct the emergency response in Darfur and development projects in the northern part of the country. In 2009, Liz came to CARE headquarters in Atlanta to lead the Foundations Unit, where she directed strategy for partnerships with large professional foundations such as the Gates and Buffett Foundations. This year, Liz was promoted to lead a major division responsible for CARE’s work with corporations, professional foundations, the U.S. government, and social enterprise.

Tickets are $50 per person. Additional donations are welcome. Receipts for your donation will be provided by CARE after the event. If you cannot attend but would like to make a donation, please send a check made out to CARE to the 10th St address at the bottom of this page.
The ticket price includes a fixed menu with several choices, hors d’oeuvres, salad, entrée, dessert, and a soft drink. Tax and gratuity are included in the ticket price, but alcohol is not. A cash bar is available. A vegetarian entrée is also available.
